Video conferencing is indeed a great innovation of Information Technology and Communications. I guess the news media is the first user of video conferencing.

There's also lots of good research out there to help back up pro-social media and enterprise 2.0 arguments. For example, Aberdeen recently published a report on Sales 2.0 (brief summary: http://wikisunleashed.blogspot.com/2008/10/aberdeen-on-sales-20.html). Forrester's recent report about the growth of the market has earned plenty of blog pick up. Those and others have strong proof points.

@Jeff - that's a great point, especially for those who want to archive these things for future use.

@Matt - Sort of, let's say I tag an article with "DHSMedia," I would then take the RSS feed for that tag from my del.icio.us page, and place it onto my Intranet website. It work like the RSS feed that I have set up for my "Web 2.0" del.icio.us on our Social Media Investment team wiki page on our internal social media platform.

One caveat I would throw into the "social bookmarking" thing is it is important to save, in some form, the article locally. Articles can disappear or be locked behind subscriptions or pay-per-article setups over time. After a 6 months to a year (and even less depending on the site), your bookmark may only link to an "article not found" message.

Re: social bookmarking for media clipping. You're saying whoever is tracking media stories for a client would tag the article and then the RSS would pull all the results by tag into a centralized location on the intranet for anyone who interested?

The incoming Presidential administration has a site on the cusp of offering the most dynamic, large scale use of social media to-date in http://change.gov.

I'd like to see comments more viewable along with some decent search. If the administration posts regularly and allows (and listens to) comments would be easy.

This site, coupled with some decent data visualization could give our elected officials a REAL way to listen to their constituents and make them louder than special interests for the first time.
